Row to Recovery joins Survivor Rowing Network

We have some exciting news to share! Row to Recovery has become the newest member of the Survivor Rowing Network (SRN)

SRN is a program of Rowing Cares.  Since its 2023 launch, it has grown to a community of rowers who have had a cancer diagnosis and more than 20 survivor rowing programs around the United States. It has now expanded its reach and Row to Recovery is happy to be the third international member, along with clubs in Lyon, France and Rome, Italy, joining the Survivor Rowing Network

SRN partners with existing and emerging survivor rowing programs to help them grow survivor rowing in their communities. It provides specialized guidance and targeted grants to seed further success of its established and emergent partner programs.

Row to Recovery has already seen the benefits of being a member of SRN. Composite crews from SRN clubs are traveling to various rowing events around the US to spread awareness about the benefits of rowing after a cancer diagnosis. The opportunity to join one of these crews is now open to Row to Recovery’s members. We’ve been in contact with Aviron Sante in Lyon about travelling to France for a weekend of rowing and creating new links between the two rowing groups. This opportunity to network and learn from other programmes like our own will help us to better serve our members and provide new opportunities.

Why Rowing?

Why Rowing?

Rowing is a cerebral low impact sport that utilizes the whole body and is accessible to all, regardless of fitness level. While a certain level of fitness is helpful, full training is offered by certified coaches and absolute beginners are welcome. Nor is age a barrier, our members range from early forty to late sixty.

Regaining a level of fitness, learning the skill of rowing, training and being part of a rowing crew in a very supportive, non competitive, fun manner are just some of the many benefits cancer patients have found when they join our crew.
